An 81-year-old pensioner used her parrot as a “weapon” in a long running campaign of harassment against her neighbours.

Neighbour from hell Catherine Searle encouraged her noisy parrot to disturb her next neighbours Paul and Lydia Appleton in the garden with its singing.

Mrs Appleton said Searle would find ways to overstimulate the bird so it would create constant noise and “loud piercing” sounds.

Her victims described the bird’s operatic repertoire as “Chinese torture.”

Searle also threw dog poo into her neighbours’ garden and scratched their car.

The widow was caught on CCTV 38 times as she smeared grease over the bonnets of the Appleton’s van and car in 2018.
